The 1st RI Latino Arts Network event took place on Friday, May 17 at the John Hope Settlement House in Providence, where Marta V. Martínez, Director of RI Latino Arts and board members formally launched its new logo and distributed a listing of 2013 calendar of events.

Following dinner of Venezuelan food, provided by La Arepa of Pawtucket, Marta and Sebastian Ruth, Director of Community MusicWorks introduced Venezuelan composer Gonzalo Grau, who wrote a unique piece, entitled Fantasia de Guayaba Habanera, which was debuted before a packed house of over 300 Latino artists and community members. At the end of the evening, Gonzalo and his musicians switched gears and brought the house down with salsa music and dancing - see video below.
