We are happy to announce that Meg Medina, acclaimed Latina author & illustrator, will be our guest during Latino Books Month. Meg is a Cuban-American author for children and young adults. She was awarded the coveted Pura Belpré and International Latino Children’s Book Awards in 2014 for Yaqui Delgado Wants to Kick Your Ass (one of our 2014 selected RI Latino Books Month books).

Look for Meg’s new book entitled Burn Baby Burn, which takes place in the summer of New York summer of 1977, when the city is besieged by arson, a massive blackout, and a serial killer named Son of Sam who shoots young women on the streets.

As part of RILA's activities, Meg will be visiting the Sophia Academy in Providence and Shea High School in Pawtucket to discuss her book and will also provide bilingual workshops on writing. Meg will then be part of a panel of Latino authors/illustrators at the Pawtucket Public Library on Sat. June 4th and will be available to sign copies of her books. If you own any of her books, be sure to bring them on Saturday so Meg can sign them!
