RILA’s Latino Oral History Project is especially aware that Latinos have been the fastest growing yet most underrepresented ethnic group in historical documents in Rhode Island. This is why we want to collect items and stories about life in Rhode Island’s barrios | neighborhoods, and to provide a forum for Spanish-speaking immigrants to make their voices heard, and their photos placed in an archive for future generations to see.

Rhode Island Latino Arts | Latino Oral History Project will be continuing and expanding our very successful Barrio Tours. This public history project will celebrate the City of Central Falls and the people, places, and community life in neighborhoods that are significant to the Latino Community.

Led by students alongside residents of Central Falls, the tours will take you through main streets and side streets of this one-square-mile urban city.
