Barrio Tours • Part II

Este es mi Barrio circle2
Rhode Island Latino Arts | Latino Oral History Project will be continuing and expanding our very successful Barrio Tours. This public history project will celebrate the City of Central Falls and the people, places, and community life in neighborhoods that are significant to the Latino Community.

Led by students alongside residents of Central Falls, the tours will take you through main streets and side streets of this one-square-mile urban city.

Beginning in June of 2019, a team of Central Falls students and elders will sit together for a series of pláticas (community conversations) that will lead to the creation of a map and a short video.

The maps will become a self-guided walking tour of Central Falls and will be made available through Central Falls City Hall.

Tours will begin on Dexter Street and will take you in and around, and through historically significant neighborhoods of the city.

Students will be documenting their experiences as we prepare for the walks. We invite you to read their comments on our
Barrio Blog

The first public tour will be offered in the Fall of 2019.

Funds for this project have been made possible in part by a Rhode Island Foundation Community Grant.
