RILA has been invited to help coordinate community use of these new storytelling spaces, and we’re now accepting applications from individuals, artists, musicians, cultural groups, families, and organizations who want to broadcast for at least 3 hours total (across one or more days). Selected applicants will receive a $500 mini-grant to support their broadcast.

Your broadcast can be live or pre-recorded:

• Music
• Conversation or interviews
• Poetry or storytelling
• Neighborhood histories
• Anything that uplifts Broad Street’s past, present, or future

As part of RILA’s Freedom for Whom theme for 2026, we invite broadcasters to explore what freedom means in our communities today—who has it, who is still seeking it, and how everyday stories, art, humor, and memory can spark deeper reflection. Your broadcast doesn’t have to be formal; even original poetry, a talk show, or a family conversation can help illuminate this question in meaningful ways.

If you wish to apply, be prepared to answer these questions in the online form:

• Name(s) of individual or group
• Contact information
• Proposed broadcast dates (flexible)
• Brief description of what you want to share and how it connects (if at all) to the Freedom for Whom theme
• Optional: links to past work or social media

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until funds are allocated. Priority will be given to proposals rooted in community storytelling, culture, or history.
