Ashley Soto is a singer of Guatemalan and Mexican heritage with a degree in Psychology from Rhode Island College.
She began her career performing Selena covers when she was six years old. Since also wrote and recorded the campaign song for Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza. She placed first runner up in La Mega Voz Internacional 2019 and won first place in Rhode Island College’s Singing Competition in 2018. In 2019, she became the first Guatemalan to have been chosen to compete in the Miss Rhode Island USA pageant.
In 2019 Ashley was offered a leading role of Vero in Rhode Island Latino Arts/Trinity Rep Teatro en El Verano’s production of “Tanta Bulla ¿y ‘Pa Que?” and her acting career took off. She later was cast as Diana in Head Trick Theater’s The Lucky Chance and Alejandra in the production Abue!
In May 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine, RILA offered Ashley the opportunity to perform and create a video of the National Anthem in Spanish – El Pendón Estrellado – which she says worried her at first because she feared any backlash from Trump supporters who would oppose hearing the American National anthem in Spanish. However, after the video was released and received positive feedback, it has become one of the projects that she is most proud of.
