Flamenco Rhode Island is a group focused on amplifying the flamenco culture, highlighting its gitano and moorish roots as well as the transformative Latin American influences in Flamenco.
Founded by the Brazilian artist Mariana Paes, the group offers educational and performances opportunities throughout Rhode Island.
About Mariana Paes
Mariana Paes is an artist, educator, event producer, and multicultural communications specialist committed to community transformation through art, diversity, inclusion, and equity. Her Brazilian roots with Spanish, Lebanese, Indigenous and Black heritage, as well as her ballet, jazz, belly dance, flamenco and music training grant her a unique artistic vision. Paes has been dancing flamenco for over 15 years and learned from multiple maestras such as Symone Coelho, Trini, Ale Kalaf, La China, Carmen Talegona, Omara Amaya, Laura Sanchez, and Belen Maya. And the learning never stops!
