Rene Gómez

Painter | Mural Artist

Rene is a mural painter and portrait artist based in Providence, RI.
He is Artist-in-Residence at RILA from 2020-2023. His commissioned work during his residency is to create a series of portraits of Rhode Island Latino History Pioneers, from Nuestras Raíces: The Latino Rhode Island Oral History Project. The portraits will be on display at Rhode Island College in Fall 2024 and then at La Galería del Pueblo in 2025.

Broad Street Walk of Fame Sidewalk

On June 5, 2022, Rene and a group of students from the 360 School in Providence transformed the sidewalk in front of Johnny's Chimis truck on Broad Street into the Broad Street Walk of Fame, highlighting the businesses that made Broad Street what it is today.
