Teatro en El Verano's Influence
Since 2016, Teatro en el Verano has transformed Rhode Island’s neighborhoods into stages, bringing free bilingual theater directly to our communities. Through our partnership with Trinity Repertory Company, this program has not only made theater more accessible but has also launched the careers of local Latino/Latina/Latinx artists—actors, designers, playwrights, and technicians—who have gone on to perform on major stages, including Trinity’s mainstage.
La Tempestad, which runs at Trinity Rep from March 27-April 27, 2025, first premiered in Rhode Island during the 2019 Teatro en El Verano summer season. The play is a bilingual adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest, written by Kufa Castro & Orlando Hernández, who joined Teatro en El Verano in 2016 & 2017, respectively. La Tempestad was also Tatyana-Marie Carlo's first time directing a play for RILA.

Join us for the world premiere of Christopher Marlowe's Fausto, reimagined and adapted by Jesús Valles as ¡Que Diablos, Fausto! This bilingual production brings new life to the timeless tale of ambition, love, and redemption, all through the lens of Latinx voices and artistry.
