RILA' Nuestras Raíces Community Pláticas brings together individuals in the Latino community of Rhode Island to make history by contributing their stories, photos and family documents to our Latino History Collection.

Summer of 2019: We have scheduled three bilingual community pláticas — two in Central Falls and one in Providence. These events will bring people together to share with us their personal papers and/or photos and to contribute items to our collection. The Nuestras Raíces | Café Recuerdos art installation will be on display at each location, and Marta, RILA's Executive Director and oral historian, will be there to listen and record people's stories of immigration to Rhode Island.

Our objective is to add to our Archives, a collection of stories of Rhode Island's Latino Pioneers that display the rich and blooming history of Latin Americans living in Rhode Island. History is made every day, so by participating you can become part of the unfolding Latino story of Rhode Island.

To participate, come to one or all three main events during the listed summer dates held at partner sites. If you cannot attend either of these events, contact us and we can schedule additional sessions.
